10 Hashtag Holidays to Elevate Your Credit Union’s Social Media in Q2

Continuing with our series on Hashtag Holidays that are particularly appropriate for credit unions, but that you may not be familiar with, here are several national day, weeks and months you can use to give your social media a boost in April, May and June. Remember to be interesting and informative!

April

National One Cent Day (April 1): Post fun facts about the history of the penny or show some cool old images of things that used to cost one cent, such as penny candy. #NationalOneCentDay

Coin Week (Third Full Week of April): Celebrate the hobby of coin collecting with information on local coin clubs or world records involving coins.  #NationalCoinWeek

Get to Know Your Customer Day (Third Thursday of each Quarter): Run a customer survey and publish the results or interview some customers and post the videos throughout the day. #GetToKnowYourCustomerDay

Tax Day (April 15): Post tips about avoiding tax scams, information about filing extensions for those that haven’t filed yet or tell your followers which post office in your area is open latest that day. #TaxDay

May

Older Americans Month (entire month): Recognize senior customers that are active in the community. Highlight any community organizations you partner with that provide services for seniors. Post financial tips that are specific to seniors. #OlderAmericansMonth #OAM20

Small Business Week (First week of May): Explain why credit unions are best for small businesses.  Showcase some of your small business customers. #SmallBusinessWeek

Lucky Penny Day (April 23):  Post sayings associated with pennies and/or the history of the “lucky penny.” 

June

National Flip a Coin Day (June 1): Just for fun, run a survey to see whether people choose heads or tails, given the choice. #FlipACoinDay

National Selfie Day (June 21): Run a photo contest for selfies taken at a branch. Create a unique hashtag for the contest and pick a random winner. Make sure to include a great prize.

Worldwide day of Giving (June 15): Post short videos of your employees out in the community.
